The Definition of Success: How Being a "Good Lawyer" is Only Part of the Job

Susan M. Barnard was a panelist at the ACC Northeast program, "The Definition of Success: How Being a 'Good Lawyer' is Only Part of the Job." As a female attorney, the ability to get others to listen to you, follow your advice, and know when to let things go and when to dig in your heels, is often more challenging than some of the purely "legal" responsibilities. Women who thrive in their positions are the ones who naturally market themselves to the right people in the right way. At this seminar, women in both inside and outside counsel roles discussed how their definitions of success vary depending on their client's needs and values.
