James R. Wrathall

Jim Wrathall is a member of the Energy Group in Sullivan & Worcester’s Washington, D.C. office. Mr. Wrathall represents clients in energy project development and finance transactions; acquisitions, sales and licensing projects; federal court litigation and arbitration matters; and energy regulatory proceedings.

As a partner with WilmerHale LLP from 1996 through 2007, Jim acted as lead counsel in numerous federal court litigation and administrative matters, including extensive first chair trial experience; represented clients in corporate transactions, licensing and intellectual property matters; advised on securities and corporate compliance issues; conducted internal investigations for Fortune 100 companies; and represented clients in energy and environmental regulatory proceedings. Mr. Wrathall’s clients at WilmerHale included New England Electric System, National Grid, American Electric Power, PG&E National Energy Group, AES Corp., Textron Inc., Magma Copper Co., Fannie Mae, Hartford Insurance Group, Network Solutions, Inc., Citigroup, HSBC and AOL.

Mr. Wrathall served as Majority Senior Counsel with the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee from 2007 through 2011. At the EPW Committee, Mr. Wrathall was responsible for energy, climate change, water resources and clean air legislation, oversight of Executive Branch programs, and investigations.
