Partner
Harry E. Ekblom, Jr. is a partner in Sullivan & Worcester's Corporate Department. His practice is concentrated in bank and institutional financings, representing lenders and borrowers in connection with a wide variety of senior and subordinate financings – secured and unsecured. He also represents dealers and non-dealers in connection with derivative transactions, involving (among other things) the negotiation of International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) documents. In addition, Mr. Ekblom counsels clients with respect to the purchase, sale and operation of corporate and general aviation aircraft, including fractional interests in aircraft managed by any of the prominent fractional interest operators (NetJets, Flexjet, AvantAir, Flight Options, PlaneSense, etc.). Mr. Ekblom is the co-chair of the firm’s Opinions Committee and from 2001 to 2007 was the co-director of the firm’s Corporate Department.
Mr. Ekblom is a regular contributor to the Business Aviation Law Blog.
Representative Client Work
- Represented a regional U.S. bank, as agent bank, in connection with the negotiation and documentation of an $18 million multi-bank term loan power plant project financing
- Represented the restaurant lending group of a major U.S. bank in connection with an $18 million secured acquisition/private equity financing for a restaurant franchisee, including the negotiation of intercreditor terms with the secured mezzanine lender to the franchisee
- Represented a U.S. branch of a major U.K. bank as lead lender in connection with a $65 million secured multi-bank acquisition/private equity financing for a Virginia-based consumer finance company
- Represented a mezzanine lending group of a major U.K. bank in connection with a $70 million secured mezzanine loan to a Midwestern finance company
- Advised a public trucking service center company in connection with the negotiation and documentation of its $100 million asset-based multibank credit facility
- Advised a timber REIT in connection with the negotiation and documentation of its $110 million bridge loan and permanent institutional financings secured by more than 190,000 acres of timberland in four states
- Advised a private New England-based food products company in connection with the negotiation and documentation of its $275 million asset-based, multibank term loan and revolving credit facility
- Advised a private equity company in connection with the negotiation and documentation of its $200 million secured bridge loan facility
- Represented the U.S. branch and other affiliates of a major European bank, as dealer, in connection with the negotiation and documentation of numerous secured and unsecured interest rate swaps, commodity hedges and other derivative transactions
