Judy A. Groves

Associate

Judy A. Groves is an associate in the Bankruptcy, Reorganization & Creditors’ Rights Group of Sullivan & Worcester's Boston office. She focuses her practice in the areas of bankruptcy and reorganization representing both secured and unsecured lenders as well as Chapter 11 debtors. Ms. Groves has extensive experience in structuring and conducting UCC (Article 9) foreclosures, real estate foreclosures, and state court receiverships. She is a qualified English Chartered Accountant and practiced for several years in the United Kingdom, where she lectured extensively on accounting and finance issues. Previously, Ms. Groves served as law clerk to the Honorable Carol J. Kenner of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Boston. 

Representative Client Work

  • Represented a national banking association in its capacity as trustee with respect to approximately 300 financing transactions in each of the Chapter 11 proceedings of United Air Lines and Northwest Airlines, Inc.
  • Represented a Chapter 11 debtor engaged in providing lower income housing in its reorganization proceedings
  • Represented purchasers and sellers, both inside and outside of bankruptcy, involving equipment, real estate, and structured finance transactions
  • Advised bondholders and trustees with respect to complex structured leveraged transactions
