Partner

William A. Newman is a partner in the Corporate Department of our New York office. Mr. Newman advises both global and domestic operating businesses and their owners on their business structures, capital acquisitions and investments and strategic growth. He structures and negotiates corporate finance and M&A transactions in public and private markets. His clients operate in the software, financial services, life sciences and information technology industries, among others. He also advises private investment funds and their managers.

Representative Client Work

  • Represented a publicly held U.S. software business in the acquisition of a Finnish chip technology business
  • Represented a U.S./German private company in the acquisition of a life sciences capital equipment business in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany and Belgium
  • Represented a privately held offshore acquirer in the acquisition of a combined asset-management, investment-banking and securities-brokerage business
  • Represented several issuers in capital raises, including, venture loans, private placements, PIPE financings and a registered direct offering
  • Represented private investment funds in connection with their private placements to raise funds for investment in financial assets and direct real estate assets
