Kevin M. Colmey

Associate

Kevin M. Colmey is an associate in the Litigation Department of Sullivan & Worcester's Boston office. He focuses his practice on First Amendment and other media-related cases, including defamation and privacy suits. Mr. Colmey has extensive litigation experience in federal and state courts, and has represented clients in connection with a broad range of claims, including breach of contract, insurance coverage and claims under the federal securities laws.

Representative Client Work

  • Obtained the dismissal of a federal civil rights action against a media company in New York
  • Successfully represented a media company and certain journalists with respect to a grand jury subpoena in New York
  • Obtained the dismissal of a class action lawsuit under the Securities Act and Securities Exchange Act in New York
  • Successfully argued a workers’ compensation appeal before the Virginia Court of Appeals on behalf of victims of 9/11
  • Obtained the reversal of a $12 million insurance coverage award from the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit
  • Successfully represented a father seeking the return of his six year old son to Canada under The Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction
  • Obtained the dismissal of several products liability and related claims on behalf of a licensing company in Massachusetts
