Sullivan & Worcester LLP Expands White Collar Defense and Government Investigations Practice with the Addition of Former Federal Prosecutor to Litigation Team

Press Release, October 18, 2005

Boston, MA – October 18, 2005 Sullivan & Worcester LLP announced today that they have added Barry Pollack, a former Federal Prosecutor, to their litigation team, expanding the firm's white collar defense and government investigations capabilities.

Barry S. Pollack joins Sullivan & Worcester as a partner in the Litigation Department of the firm's Boston office. He focuses a national practice on the representation of corporations and individuals in government investigations, securities claims, SEC inquiries, white collar defense, class actions and other commercial disputes. Mr. Pollack has represented targets, victims, witnesses or the government in numerous criminal and regulatory investigations and prosecutions in a variety of jurisdictions. In addition, Mr. Pollack represents victims of international child abductions. Prior to joining Sullivan & Worcester, Mr. Pollack was a partner of a litigation boutique in Boston and previously served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey.

"The addition of Barry to our Litigation Practice Group enables us to offer our high profile clients enhanced capabilities and a broader experience base - particularly given the impact of the intense scrutiny on senior executives in today's corporate environment" said Joel Carpenter, Sullivan & Worcester's Co-Managing Partner. "We expect to continue to grow this practice group in line with growing client demands in this area."

Pollack said that "Sullivan & Worcester is an exciting, growing firm where I will have first-rate support from a wide range of highly respected individuals and practice groups." He said he was drawn to S&W by "its reputation as a mid-size firm where lawyers practice at the highest level in an environment that focuses on teamwork and efficient client service."

Pollack has previously been successful in obtaining dismissal in the Southern District of New York and affirmance in the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, of class action claims in excess of $20 million against corporate officers of an internet technology company arising from the alleged sale of unregistered securities. Another of Pollack's recent client successes includes winning a Connecticut jury verdict in April 2005 of $27 million against a subsidiary of a Fortune 50 company.

Pollack has spoken and published on intellectual property crimes, business ethics and compliance, has contributed to the UCLA Executive MBA Program and offered commentary on high profile cases on regional and national news programs. He is also Director and Clerk of the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. He received his J.D. from Rutgers in 1992.
