Douglas S. Stransky was quoted in an article published on July 13, 2011 in Tax Disputes Week entitled "Whistleblowers May Take Caution From Tax Court Ruling." The article explains that in January the Internal Revenue Service introduced new policies designed to tempt whistleblowers with information about possible tax evasion to come forward with the promise of enhanced rewards. Now, the U.S. Tax Court has ruled that it does not itself have jurisdiction to order the IRS to undertake an investigation of a taxpayer once the agency has denied the whistleblower’s claim.
