ZAG-S&W Press Release
March 17, 2011

WASHINGTON, D.C. – March 17, 2011 – Five Israeli clean and renewable energy technology companies were selected to participate in the CleanTech Gateway USA Program, a joint endeavor among the Governor’s Virginia-Israel Advisory Board (VIAB), Dominion Energy and the Dominion Resources GreenTech Commercialization Center. As a co-sponsor, ZAG-S&W, an Israeli-American law firm, has assisted with participant selection and publicity and will host a reception for the five companies on March 28 in Washington, D.C. Ohad Cohen, Commercial Attaché of the Embassy of Israel, and Daniel Birns, International Advisor in DOE’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, will provide opening remarks during the reception.

The program's purpose is to introduce to the U.S. market, through the establishment of manufacturing, distribution and marketing arms in Virginia, the products and services of Israeli companies with cutting-edge alternative energy technologies. The companies chosen for the program are:

CQM - Automatic (condenser) tube cleaning system; an energy efficiency product for use by power/utility companies and for commercial HVAC units.

Emefcy - Electrogenic bioreactor for wastewater-to-energy technology.

GreenLet Technologies - Smart grid hardware and software; self-deployable energy reduction technology for utilities.

Panoramic Power - Smart grid hardware and software; monitoring of power circuits in commercial buildings.

Powercom LTD - Smart grid hardware and software; real time access for utilities to customers’ electric meters.

Approximately 70 Israeli companies submitted applications to participate in the Commonwealth’s "Go-To-Market" program. Of those 70 companies, 25 semi-finalists were interviewed at ZAG-S&W’s Tel Aviv office by a team comprised of representatives from VIAB, Dominion Energy, Dominion Resources GreenTech Commercialization Center and co-sponsors Greater Richmond Partnership, Hanover County Economic Development Office and ZAG-S&W’s Tel Aviv and Washington, D.C. offices. The other program co-sponsor is Wellford Energy Advisors.

“With our colleagues in the firm’s Tel Aviv office, we had the opportunity last spring to initiate a relationship with VIAB’s Executive Director, Ralph Robbins, who sought our firm’s involvement in the CleanTech Gateway USA Program,” said ZAG-S&W’s Jeffrey M. Karp, co-leader of the firm’s Climate-Related Business & Technology Group. “By participating in this program, we have been fortunate to work with top-notch co-sponsors, meet well-qualified, alternative energy technology companies and further communicate ZAG-S&W’s strength as an advisor in the clean-tech sector in the United States and Israel.”

The five finalist companies will attend three days of business development sessions (March 29-March 31) in the Richmond, Virginia area, following a reception at ZAG-S&W’s Washington, D.C. office on March 28. Meetings for each company are planned with technology, marketing and financial experts to help facilitate the commercialization in Virginia of their respective technologies. On March 30, each company will make a presentation to the program sponsors, potential investors and business persons in the Richmond area.
