In Memoriam: Robert N. Hickey
Robert N. Hickey, a Sullivan & Worcester partner, died unexpectedly at his summer residence in Edgartown on Martha’s Vineyard on Sunday, September 26, 2010.
Bob was the managing partner of the Washington, D.C. office, director of the Investment Management Group and a member of the Management Committee. His practice was focused on organization and offering of mutual funds and closed-end investment companies; representation of mutual fund independent trustees/directors; and mergers of individual mutual funds and fund complexes.
Bob was born in Buffalo, New York on November 13, 1941 and graduated from Canisius College in 1963 with his B.S. He went on to attend Georgetown University School of Law and in 1966 received his J.D. and in his M.L. in 1968.
He was admitted to the Bar & Court for District of Columbia in 1968 and the U.S. District Court, District of Columbia. He was a member of the District of Columbia Bar Association and awarded Best Lawyers in America (2008-2011).
Bob is survived by his wife, Constance (Toohey) Hickey; his son Robert N. Hickey, Jr; and his daughter, Megan Hickey Lait and her husband, Jon and their son, Noah William Lait; also by his mother Beatrice (Stockman) Hickey. He was predeceased by his father, Nelson M. Hickey.
A private burial will be on Thursday, September 30 in Edgartown, MA.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, October 2 in St. Elizabeth’s Church, Montrose Road in Rockville at 2:00pm.
