In Memoriam: Arthur D. Emil

Sullivan & Worcester mourns the passing of Arthur D. Emil, senior counsel to the Real Estate and Corporate Departments of Sullivan & Worcester's New York office, on July 6, 2010. Arthur practiced law for more than 50 years and joined S&W in 2009. Arthur advised on many commercial transactions in the communications, entertainment and sports world. He was most recently a partner with Cohen Tauber Spievack & Wagner LLP. Prior to that Arthur was at Jones, Day, Reavis & Progue and Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel. Arthur was the principal owner and chairman of Night Sky Holdings, LLC, which owns several restaurants in the New York area, including Beacon Restaurant and Bar and Ouest. He was the founding principal and shareholder of two real estate development firms with commercial, residential and mixed-use properties in Connecticut, Maine, New York and Ohio. Arthur served as trustee for various philanthropic institutions and non-profit organizations, including The American Federation of Arts and the Montefiore Medical Center. He also served on the Board of Directors of National Investment Managers, Inc. and NexMed, Inc.
