Sullivan & Worcester Adds New Telecommunications PartnerPress Release, May 7, 2008Washington, D.C. – May 7, 2008 – Sullivan & Worcester LLP announced today that Wendy M. Creeden has joined its Washington, D.C. office as a partner in the Telecommunications Group within the firm’s Regulated Industries Department. The Telecommunications Group was formed in November 2007 when a group of senior practitioners that includes Elise Dieterich, Kathy Cooper and Scott Burnside joined the firm. The firm’s Regulated Industries Department comprises telecommunications, environmental, energy transactional, climate change and government contracts practitioners. Ms. Creeden has worked in the telecommunications field for more than 12 years, counseling wireline, wireless, satellite, broadband, Internet, and ancillary telecommunications service providers on a broad range of state and federal regulatory issues, from market entry strategies and regulatory compliance, to regulatory policy development and advocacy for traditional and emerging services. She practices before the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), state public utility commissions, and other federal and state regulatory agencies, and represents clients in enforcement, investigations, complaint, authorization, transactional, rulemaking, regulatory audit and appeal proceedings. “I am excited to join the strong telecommunications lawyers at S&W,” said Ms. Creeden. “Together, we have experience in an exceptionally broad array of communications technologies and regulations.” “Wendy adds great depth and experience to our highly regarded Telecommunications Group, and is a terrific addition to the growing Regulated Industries Department in our Washington, D.C. office,” said Joel Carpenter, co-managing partner of Sullivan & Worcester. “Wendy’s clients will be well-served by our outstanding team, and Wendy’s capabilities will further enhance our ability to serve our current telecommunications clients.” Before joining Sullivan & Worcester, Ms. Creeden was part of the Internet, Communications and Data Protection Group at Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP in Washington, D.C., and, previously, in Swidler Berlin LLP’s Telecommunications, Media, and Technology Group. Her experience in the telecommunications field is extensive and includes particular emphasis in the area of universal service, counseling clients on all facets of federal and state universal service programs, including regulatory obligations and requirements related to high cost, low income, rural health care and E-rate support. She also has extensive experience in counseling Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and other IP providers, and providers of ancillary services such as pay-per-call, directory assistance, and operator service, on the complex regulatory issues involving these emerging services, including the manner in which federal, state and international regulatory developments may affect their marketing and business plans. ###
