Architectural RoboticsBoston, MA – July 8, 2015 – Sullivan & Worcester has named Architectural Robotics as the winner of the firm’s 2015 Startup Challenge, which is part of its Startup Series workshops to help new and growing businesses. Architectural Robotics will receive free legal representation for one year (up to a maximum of $10,000, subject to certain restrictions).

Architectural Robotics, co-founded by MIT graduate Hasier Larrea, is creating a scalable technology that enables the effortless reconfiguration of interior spaces, with an initial focus on solutions to dramatically increase the efficiency, affordability and functionality of urban micro-apartments. The company aspires to support a new generation of intelligent spaces that maximize the opportunities of urbanization and the revitalization of cities. The company builds on the CityHome research project at the MIT Media Lab, supported by IKEA (the world’s largest furniture retailer), Steelcase (the world’s largest office furniture manufacturer) and other international companies.

Hasier Larrea recently spoke at TEDxCambridge and his robotics work has been featured in The New York Times, Time, Fast Company, Wired, TechCrunch and others.

"We were very impressed with Architectural Robotics' business plan and its technology to market new solutions for urban housing," said Lewis N. Segall, partner at Sullivan & Worcester and one of the Startup Challenge judges. "The firm is eager to work with the founders and excited to assist the company in meeting its significant plans for future growth."

The contest was open to any entrepreneur who planned to start a business in 2015 or has recently started one and filed organizational documents after January 1, 2014. The company owner must have attended at least two of the Sullivan & Worcester Startup Series workshops that were held from October 2014 – May 2015. Four finalists were selected to pitch their startups to a panel of Sullivan & Worcester judges.
