Boston, MA – January 7, 2014 – Sullivan & Worcester LLP is pleased to announce that Amy E. Sheridan, in the firm's Boston office, and Matthew J. Van Wormer, in the New York office, have been promoted to partner in the firm’s Tax and Investment Management Groups, respectively.

Ms. Sheridan concentrates her practice in the employee benefits and executive compensation areas and is experienced in addressing documentation and compliance issues for welfare plans (including HIPAA Privacy and Security requirements), qualified retirement plans and individual retirement accounts. She designs and reviews nonqualified deferred compensation arrangements, including for compliance with Internal Revenue Code Sections 409A and 457A. Ms. Sheridan is also experienced in analyzing ERISA prohibited transaction, fiduciary and reporting issues. She is currently co-chair of the Boston Bar Association’s ERISA Committee, a participant in the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce's Women's Leadership Program and co-president of the Wellesley College Alumnae Association of Boston.

Mr. Van Wormer's practice focuses on the representation of mutual funds, closed-end funds and exchange-traded funds and their independent directors. He advises clients on the full range of issues that funds, their Boards and advisers encounter day-to-day including compliance matters, Section
15(c) contract approvals and disclosure issues. Mr. Van Wormer also advises on legal issues relating to the organization and operation of investment companies, including the mergers of mutual funds. Mr. Van Wormer also has substantial experience representing sponsors of unit investment trusts.
